Open Innovation Opportunity

Existing Project

To maximise the chances of obtaining the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant (AdG), it's crucial to effectively communicate the key characteristics of the project to the evaluators. However, as grant consultants the Excellent Science Helix leaders, Sciencepoint and Bekk Research Support, often find that applicants struggle to develop a convincing and easy-to-follow structure for their proposals. This makes it challenging for evaluators to identify critical information fast enough and to appreciate the breakthrough aspect necessary for a successful ERC application.

To help applicants overcome these obstacles, this online seminar aims to provide guidance on crafting a clear and convincing proposal structure. Our Helix leaders will offer best practices for structuring your proposal content and provide recommendations for optimising the communication of critical elements such as the scientific challenge, ambition, high-risk or scientific impact. Additionally, they will consider the different audiences for parts B1 and B2 of the proposal and suggest presenting essential information early in the proposal to engage evaluators. Throughout the seminar, they will refer back to the formal evaluation criteria, which must be considered during the proposal writing process

The agenda of this seminar comprises:
- A suggested easy-to-follow and convincing structure for parts B1 and B2
- Common challenges and proposal best practices
- Q&A session to answer questions and to clear up doubts
