Quantum Open Innovation community on Crowdhelix

Background

The Quantum Helix was amongst the second tranche of Helix communities, and was launched in late 2017. The Helix is led by world-renowned research-intensive university TU Delft, which hosts QuTech, a mission-driven research centre for quantum computing and the quantum internet.

Scope

Closely linked with the activities of the Digital Helix and the Cybersecurity Helix, Crowdhelix’s Quantum Helix provides an Open Innovation community for experts seeking international collaborators to carry out research and innovation across the rapidly growing and evolving field of quantum technologies, including quantum computing and quantum cryptography.

Policy

Research on quantum technologies in Europe is supported through several major programmes at European, national, and regional levels. Their overall aim is to foster synergy between these initiatives in the area of quantum technologies in order to create collaborations among the best groups in Europe and to foster broader partnerships around them, with the overall goal of spreading excellence and broadening the European footprint of quantum research & innovation.

A key initiative in the field is the Quantum Technologies Flagship, a €1BN, ten year programme aiming to consolidate and expand European scientific leadership and excellence in this research area, to kick-start a competitive European industry in quantum technologies, and to make Europe a dynamic and attractive region for innovative research, business, and investments.
