My research interests include any aspects of tourism in an urban context (I am co-editor of Routledge Handbook of Tourism Cities and co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Tourism Cities). I have also delivered major EU-funded projects related to smart initiatives in the sustainable management of heritage urban destinations, sustainable events, sustainable competitiveness of traditional markets, and I supervise PhD students doing research on transformational tourism, sustainable tourism and crisis management.

I am interested in participating in projects exploring any of the following aspects:
