Background
The Maritime & Marine Helix was amongst the third tranche of Helix communities launched by Crowdhelix in mid-2018. The Helix is led by the world-leading research-intensive university L-Università ta' Malta.
Scope
The Maritime & Marine Helix provides an Open Innovation platform for experts seeking international collaborators to carry out research and innovation across the following topic areas:
- Blue Growth, and the transition to a circular blue economy
- Pollution & climate change in the ocean, including plastics
- Sustainable use & management of ocean resources
- Development of new materials, feed, & food
- Urban, coastal & maritime spatial planning
- Coastal tourism
- Marine archaeology
- Maritime transport
- Ocean governance
- Ocean economics applied to maritime activities
Due to the cross-cutting nature of the domain, the Maritime & Marine Helix is also closely integrated with the activities of several other Helix communities; including Water, Transport, Materials, & Climate. This integration is also reflected at the EU policy level, with a dedicated “flagging” system for Blue Growth-related funding topics across the Funding & Tenders Portal.
Horizon Europe
The Maritime & Marine Helix is also oriented towards the activities of the Horizon Europe Mission “Healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters”, which aims to develop R&I interventions and impacts across many of the topic areas listed above, whilst raising awareness of their importance among citizens. Crowdhelix intends to align its own activities in support of this endeavour by helping to provide the widest possible access to collaborators across the many sectors involved in the maritime & marine innovation ecosystem globally.
We are pleased to announce that Crowdhelix is hosting a Material Helix Event in collaboration with AMBER: Advanced Materials and Bioengineering Research Centre. Focused on fostering collaboration, this event is aimed at coordinators and partners targeting pre-selected Horizon Europe calls. This event is an unique opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and explore exciting opportunities related Horizon Europe calls. Join us for a unique networking event!
